水野源三の詩

神様の

大きな御手の中で

かたつむりは

かたつむりらしく歩み

蛍草は

蛍草らしく咲き

雨蛙は

雨蛙らしく鳴き

神様の

大きな御手の中で

私は

私らしく生きる

In the great hand of God

the snail

crawls as the snail should

the spider wolf

blooms as the spider wolf should

the green tree frog

croaks as the green tree frog should

And in the great hand of God

I

live as I should

O Sorrow!

Thank you so much,

O Sorrow!

Had you not come to me,

had you not been so strong,

I wonder how I would be today.

O sorrow!

You took me to the side of Jesus my Lord,

where there are joys not of this world,

where there is peace not to be taken away,

O Sorrow!

　１２才のとき、初めて聖書に触れ、１３才で洗礼を受けクリスチャンになりました。母の手助けで、五十音図を瞬(まばた)きで指定する方法で、多くの詩を作りました。

　水野源三の信仰と、すなおで感謝と喜びに満ちた詩と、障害のゆえの苦痛と戦って勝利した人生の姿とは、今、日本全国に、そして国際的にも感動の輪を広げつつあります。

　日本という異教国に、キリストの福音が真実に根付き、花を咲かせ、実を結んだ、顕著なしるしと言えるでしょう。

　日本キリスト教団坂城栄光教会内には、水野源三記念コーナーがあります。千曲川河畔に、また、坂城町田町に詩碑が建てられています。
